People are just realizing iPhone has hidden 'ultra button' – you'll never run out of battery again if you use it right | The Sun
THERE'S a clever iPhone hack that could save you from a dead battery nightmare.
It only takes a few seconds to set up – and it'll be there when you need it most.
The 'Apple Shortcut' trick can buy you enough time to get to a charger, saving you from a total blackout.
But you'll need to configure your iPhone settings correctly first.
It works by automatically engaging power-saving settings when you're very low on battery.
So if your battery falls to 25% charge, your iPhone will switch on Low Power Mode.
This feature was added way back in 2015, and turns off load of features.
"When Low Power Mode is on, your iPhone or iPad will last longer before you need to charge it," Apple explained.
"But some features might take longer to update or complete.
"Also, some tasks might not work until you turn off Low Power Mode, or until you charge your iPhone or iPad to 80% or higher."

Here's the full list according to Apple:
- 5G (except for video streaming) on iPhone 12 models
- Auto-Lock (defaults to 30 seconds)
- Display brightness
- Display refresh rate (limited up to 60 Hz) on iPhone and iPad models with ProMotion display
- Some visual effects
- iCloud Photos (temporarily paused)
- Automatic downloads
- Email fetch
- Background app refresh
You'll know it's worked because your battery status bar will turn yellow.
With the Shortcut, you'll have a special Ultra Low Power Mode kick in at 5% charge.
This means you can only make phone calls – and you won't be able to use the internet.
Your brightness will be reduced to zero, and Bluetooth, WiFi and mobile data are switched off.
How to use iPhone Ultra Battery Shortcut
The Shortcuts app on your Apple smartphone lets you create your own clever iPhone hacks.
But you can also download pre-made Shortcuts designed by other people.
One such Shortcut is called Intelligent Power, and you can download it here.
Simply follow the instructions then enable the Shortcut, and you'll be good to go.
You can also tweak the battery levels for when you want the different power modes to kick in.
Of course regular Low Power Mode will suggest itself to you eventually anyway – even without an Apple Shortcut.
Low Power Mode will be offered to you if you drop to 20% (and then 10%) charge.
You can reject it, of course – but it might be wise to turn it on.
