Upholstery pro and The Repair Shop expert Sonnaz Nooranvary appeared on BBC One’s Morning Live to share some upcycling tips. Sonnaz shared her upcycling tips amid reports of furniture delivery delays across the country. She shared her tips with Morning Live presenters Gethin Jones and Kimberley Walsh.

Sonnaz discussed how to “refresh” sofas rather than buying a new one with scatter cushions and how to “fix” a headboard.

“I love using scatter cushions to just lift a sofa or chair.

“It’s a really quick fix, if, say for example, you’ve got a dark sofa, you could use some light scatter cushions.

“Of course, they’ve got to be lovely and plumptious!”

Sonnaz said homeowners can mix up the textures of their cushions with their sofas as well.

The DIY expert also shared a “quick fix” for brightening up tired a headboard.

“For a really quick fix for a headboard, I love making a slipcover and it’s something that people can do at home – it’s a fabulous DIY project.

“And again, you can choose a really busy fabric or you can go with something plain and textured.

“So that would be a really quick easy fix for headboard I reckon.”

Gethin showed viewers a before and after photo of a headboard with a slipcover over it.

The headboard slipcover was for a children’s room and included a pocket for toys.

Sonnaz’s “trick” for curtains was to always go with full-length curtains “from the ceiling to the floor”.

The Repair Shop expert said this tip can be used in small and large bedrooms.

She explained: “I think that it looks really plush and it elevates a space.

“It makes full use of that drop, which I really like.”

On this week’s episode of The Repair Shop, Sonnaz will be working on an iconic 1960s Danish “egg chair”.

She will be tasked with returning the mid-century chair to its former glory.

Sonnaz owns her own company Sonnaz Limited, which she founded in 2011.

She hails from Pamphill in Wimborne, Dorset and became interested in upholstery after she dropped out of her Law degree to do an apprenticeship at Sunseeker yachts.

The Repair Shop airs tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One
