Fifth case of COVID-19 reported in Cherry Creek School District
Another case of COVID-19 has popped up at a high school in the Cherry Creek School District.
On Aug. 25, the district notified families affiliated with Overland High School in Aurora that a student had tested positive for the virus after attending school Aug. 19. Two other students were determined by the district to be close contacts, said Abbe Smith, executive director of communications for the district. Cherry Creek defines a close contact as someone who was within 6 feet of the infected person for 15 minutes or longer.
All three are in quarantine, she said.
The case marks the fifth case of COVID-19 in the district to come to light since its schools reopened for in-person classes Aug. 17.
Cherry Creek is one of more than a half-dozen Colorado districts to report a positive case within the first weeks of in-person learning.
