Greenfield Solar Farm

1. Please provide a brief overview of the project.

The project has taken the municipal landfill and put 2 megawatts of solar panels on top of the cap to supply the Town of Greenfield MA with 40% of its required electric power at a savings of $200,000 per year:
  • The landfill is at Cumberland Road in Greenfield. It encompasses approximately 21 acres.
  • The landfill was closed in 1996 and has been unused for any benefit since that time.
  • The project first generated electric power on June 7, 2012.
